Heirloom Cucumbers have been used
for skin care for several hundred years. It has ascorbic acid (which is vitamin C) and caffeic acid. These two nutrients help soothe skin irritation and reduce
swelling. Cucumbers have hydrating and astringent properties. The pH of cucumbers is the same as the skin. Because of this, they help restore the skin's natural acid balance. You can put cucumbers slices right on your skin, or them with a few other foods to give your skin a wonderful toning lotion.
Here is refreshing combination to treat your skin
:
5 mint leaves (fresh)
1/4 cucumber (preferably an organic heirloom cucumber)
1 egg white
Put the mint leaves in a blender and chop it with a short burst. If the cucumber is organic, do not peel it, but add to the mint and blend to a puree. Beat the egg white separately until if form stiff peaks. Gently fold it into the cucumber puree. If the cucumber is not organic, I recommend you peel it because cucumbers in the supermarket are coated with wax.
With your finger tips, pat this mix onto your face and neck and leave for 20 minutes. Avoid the immediate eye area. Rinse with water and pat dry.
